Here at Kybotech, we’re always on the lookout for new talent – for people and personalities that gel with our company ideals and are hungry for success. So to understand what life at Kybotech is like, we think there’s no better way than to talk to some of the real people who work there.

Check out their answers below to see if Kybotech is the right fit for you!

Which brand do you (primarily) work on/for?

All of them but with an aim to be working mainly on GBD (Garden Buildings Direct) and BillyOh.

What’s your role at Kybotech?

I’m a senior customer service advisor.

The Customer Care Team

Can you briefly explain what your role involves?

Assisting customers with any issues they may have with their order or any enquiries they may have surrounding their order. Helping Laura (my manager) with scheduling, metrics and reports for the care team and sales team.

Also, training new staff on GBD, BillyOh and Bobbin and assisting the team with any issues with orders and complaints they may be struggling with. And a whole lot more – but I’ll keep it brief!

“I feel as though I’ve quickly become a valued member of the team”.
Miya

How long have you worked at Kybotech?

It’ll be 5 years in June.

And how big is your team?

So our care team is comprised of about 14 members based all over the place.

Can you explain “a day in your life” as a senior customer service advisor?

No two days are ever the same! My workday never passes without a new challenge or learning something completely new. As I help with multiple sides of the business, I’m always facing new customer enquiries. There’s always something new a customer needs help with, whether it’s a customer I’m helping directly or a customer I’m helping another care agent assist.

Ad what gets you out of bed and to work in the morning?

The fast-paced environment with constant stimulation. The new challenges each day brings.

“I’ve developed a professional personality that allows me to do my job effectively every day”.
Miya

Constant Improvement

So how have you found working remotely during the past 1-2 years?

I’ve really enjoyed working from home. I’ve found that I have a much better work-life balance and I feel more productive as I don’t have the everyday distractions an office can bring.

What’s one proud moment you’ve had whilst working here?

I don’t think I can narrow it down to just one moment – I’m proud of many over my time in the company. I started in the sales team in 2017 and I feel as though I’ve quickly become a valued member of the team. I now have experience in sales, care, cancellation across the GBD, BillyOh and Bobbin teams.

I feel as though I’m trusted by my manager and have opportunities to develop and expand my personal skills. I would say my career progression and the trust my management have in me to take on the new challenges and help with new projects such as with new acquisitions, and my recent promotion to “Senior” are also proud moments.

charanjeet-dhiman-mHusyBu4bxM-unsplash
Photo by Charanjeet Dhiman on Unsplash

I’m also very proud of the fact that I pushed myself to get involved in more aspects of the business, such as understanding Consumer Law to help our customers further. This made me realise I really enjoy the legal understanding and pushed me to start working towards a Law degree in my spare time.

That’s incredible! And what’s on your list to achieve over the next year?

With the new responsibilities I now have after the Bobbin acquisition, I want to work on my personal development with better time management.

So how have you seen the company grow since you’ve been working here?

When I started the UK sales team was a new development only making outbound calls and we didn’t have a UK care team at all. I’ve seen these teams both come into their own and grow so quickly. We’ve also developed new products to keep up with customer demand and introduced new options such as pressure treated garden buildings.

Skills (and hiccups!)

What useful skills have you learned whilst working here?

My entire work ethic has been developed through working here, as I started working here at 18. I was young and keen to learn but didn’t really have much “work ethic” given that I’d just left school. I’ve developed a professional personality that allows me to do my job effectively every day.

Can you remember a memorable facepalm moment at work? (It’s ok we’ve all had them!)

There is a CCTV clip of me falling completely off a chair in the office which is 100% worth a watch! (I improved by getting a new chair, of course).

Kybotech Logo

Why did you decide to apply to Kybotech – What was it about the role that seemed attractive?

The advert itself stood out – I remember the first line being “do you think you could sell ice to an eskimo?”. I wanted a new challenge – I’d worked in a few different sales jobs and wanted to try a different category of sales. Since the challenges never stopped coming, I stuck with it!

What’s the best thing about working at Kybotech?

Flexibility, great colleagues, and always something new to get your teeth stuck into.

How would you describe life at Kybotech in 5 words or less?

Challenging, rewarding, stressful 😉, diverse, interesting.

Any advice for potential candidates?

If you’re someone who wants to work on bettering yourself, if you’re willing to put the work in and ready to receive constructive criticism in a constantly fast-paced environment with a new challenge every day, then Kybotech is the place for you.

Hi Glaiza, so which brand do you (primarily) work on?

Well, I actually work across both BillyOh and Garden Buildings Direct.

Ok, and what’s your role at Kybotech?

So I’m part of the sales department – but more on chat support. I’m in charge of answering queries over live chat, social media and I also answer the tickets for sales.

Sounds busy! And how long have you worked at Kybotech?

I’ve been with the company for 3 years now!

How big is your immediate department?

So we’re 5 people in sales.

“Failure is part of success”.

Working at Kybotech

Can you briefly explain “a day in your life” at the company?

The first thing I do when I log in is to check the messages on social media, answer them and then move on to the tickets. After that, I’ll focus on answering messages over the live chat as they come in.

How have you found working remotely during the past 1-2 years?

At first, it was kind of awful! I just wasn’t used to it. I love being with my colleagues at the office, but now, after we learned how to communicate with each other remotely, it makes it a lot easier.

And what’s one proud moment you’ve had whilst working here?

Whenever a customer commends you for helping them with their query it’s a great feeling; and when our managers appreciate our efforts.

What’s on your list to achieve over the next year?

I want to learn and grow more at Kybotech and become the best version of myself.

And any useful skills that you’ve learned whilst working here?

Yep – I’ve learned how to multi-task and how to manage my time well every day.

Glaiza Thumbnail 200x200

Can you remember a memorable facepalm moment at work? (It’s ok we’ve all had them!) How did you grow/improve from this?

Oh yes! When a customer asks a specific question that I don’t know the answer to. But, I make sure to get in touch with my colleagues to ask them  – we always don’t know everything and there’s no harm in asking!

Life at Kybotech

What’s the best thing about working at Kybotech?

The people – they’re all so kind.

How would you describe life at Kybotech in 5 words or less?

It feels like home.

Any advice for potential candidates?

Work hard, always gives your best and do what you love! And please don’t be afraid to fail, as failure is part of success.

Check out their answers below to see if Kybotech is the right fit for you!

Which brand do you (primarily) work on/for Carlo?

I focus on both Garden Buildings Direct (GBD) and BillyOh.

And what department do you work in?

I work in customer care.

What’s your role at Kybotech?

I’m the customer care duty manager.

Carlo’s Role

Awesome, and can you briefly explain what your role involves?

So I manage and oversee the day-to-day operations of the customer service team.

Sounds like a big task! And how long have you worked at Kybotech?

I’ve worked here for 8 years now.

“A proud moment is always when we get a commendation from our customers”.

Carlo

How big is your team/immediate department?

There’s around 10-15 staff.

Carlo, can you give us “a day in your life” at the company?

Yeah – so I provide support for the customer service team and I also handle escalations from any customers. I’m also responsible for our schedule and for making sure the performance improvement plan is on-track.

What gets you out of bed and to work in the morning?

I always love what I’m doing here at Kybotech so every day I’m pretty excited to wake up. I like the fact that I get to work with “my team” and to offer the best customer service that we can provide to our customers.

“The best thing about working in Kybotech is all about the people!”

Carlo

Ok, so how have you found working remotely during the past 1-2 years?

At first, it was difficult as we didn’t have any experience working remotely! But we coped and I think the key to how we overcame it was about communication. We made sure that we communicated and discussed what potential struggle points were and what were the best practices that we could enact to make our remote working effective.

Achievements and Goals

What’s one proud moment you’ve had whilst working here?

A proud moment is always when we get a commendation from our customers. I really feel happy when we get good feedback from the customer because it lets us know that our efforts are being appreciated.

And what’s on your list to achieve over the next year?

Number one is always just to keep providing world-class customer service!

How have you seen the company change/grow since you’ve been working here?

Yeah, so I was actually already part of the company when they acquired the office in Worksop, and even more recently they’ve just acquired another brand with Bobbin bikes.

What useful skills have you learned whilst working here?

I’d say time management and respect for others.

Can you remember a memorable facepalm moment at work? (It’s ok we’ve all had them!) How did you grow/improve from this?

Oh yeah – so I started as an entry-level customer service associate and I remember that in my first month here I was doing so well. I was getting, let’s say not great quality scores but I loved what I was doing. So because of this I put extra effort into my work and learned from my mistakes to become a better employee.

Well, something must’ve worked! And why did you decide to apply to Kybotech in the first place?

It was way back in 2014 when I applied to Kybotech for a customer service role. The first thing that attracted me was the benefits that Kybotech offered and, of course, the work schedule.

What’s the best thing about working at Kybotech? Is the company working on improving anything that doesn’t work so well?

The best thing about working in Kybotech is all about the people! The people here will help you grow. The working environment is something that I look forward to even when the work is hard – when you’re with the right people it makes the work easier.

Finally, any advice for potential candidates?

Make sure you understand and want the position you’re applying for then just get ready to excel in your chosen field.

Hi Amelia, so let’s start with – what department do you work in?

So I spend some of my time in the sales department side, and the rest is spent in the marketing department.

Ok, and which brand do you (primarily) work on/for?

For sales, it’s primarily Garden Buildings Direct and BillyOh. Then within marketing, it’s mostly Bobbin!

And what’s your role exactly?

I’m a sales agent, but I also float between that and the marketing department throughout the week.

“There’s a great team of people helping to develop the company further each day”.

Amelia

Can you briefly explain what your role involves?

Sure – when I’m based in sales I’m answering questions, helping place orders and solving problems if any arise. When I’m in marketing, I’m writing various blog content and doing a lot of behind the scenes work on written content for each page.

Credit: Nubelson Fernandes on Unsplash

And how long have you worked at Kybotech?

I will have worked at Kybotech for a year this February.

So how big is your team/immediate department?

Sales is comprised of about 4 to 5 people, whilst the marketing team is about 5 people.

Life at Kybotech

And can you give us a feel for “a day in your life” at Kybotech?

My day generally starts off speaking to various people about orders they want to place, and if need be amending any customer orders. I also spend my morning answering any questions people may have on all sorts of products (this is where I learn new things every day!).

“Everyone I’ve met has been nothing but friendly”.

Amelia

During my afternoons, I switch over to marketing. I start by focusing on writing content for blogs, whilst doing other tasks behind the scenes of each page or post like technical SEO tasks.

What gets you out of bed and to work in the morning, Amelia?

The opportunity to see something new each day! There’s never a day where I know completely what I’ll doing but that’s what keeps us growing. I’m always intrigued to see what each day will bring and to get my creative side working on whatever I have in store.

How have you found working remotely during the past 1-2 years?

Great! I’ve found it really helps me to stay motivated, I’m able to get on with each piece of work I have and really delve deep into my creative side. I also find it helpful when it comes to answering calls and responding to customers, there’s no distractions at all – but there’s still great contact with everyone in the team!

What’s one proud moment you’ve had whilst working here?

I’m proud of how much I’ve learnt as a whole, both within sales and marketing. I love being able to expand my mind every day – I’m always impressed by how many new paths and avenues I’ve taken through the day.

And what’s on your list to achieve over the next year?

I’d love to grow within the company some more. I’d like to get myself further into the marketing side and really grow there.

Always Learning

How have you seen the company change/grow since you’ve been working here?

Sure – there’s a great team of people helping to develop the company further each day. For example, just when you think they can’t make a site look even better, or make sales work in a new and efficient way, they do!

What useful skills have you learned whilst working here?

I’ve learned lots about time management, I’d say. Every day I make myself a list of any work I might have and prioritise the most important tasks. It makes my day run smoother and more efficient.

Bobbin blog featured images
Amelia’s doing great work over on the Bobbin blog

Can you remember a memorable facepalm moment at work? (It’s ok we’ve all had them!)

I’ve had plenty of moments where I overthought the route to a problem, it ends up being so simple but I definitely facepalm once I realise the real solution!

Don’t worry, it happens to us all! So why did you decide to apply to Kybotech?

I loved how clear the application seemed even just from reading it. There was such a relaxed but informative vibe once the interview stages came about and everyone I’ve met has been nothing but friendly.

What’s the best thing about working at Kybotech? Is the company working on improving anything that doesn’t work so well?

I love knowing that by the end of the day, no matter if it’s in sales or marketing, I’ve been able to help in some way. There’s also endless support if you’re looking to gain further skills and learn more.

How would you describe life at Kybotech in 5 words or less?

Never a dull moment!

Any advice for potential candidates?

Be open to learning new skills and just take the leap. If you don’t apply, it’ll forever remain a “what if” moment. There are so many amazing people here and even whilst working remotely, there’s always support.

Thanks for your time – and if you want to follow in their footsteps, click to apply here.

Thanks for joining us Laura – so, let’s start with: which brand do you (primarily) work on?

Mainly on Garden Buildings Direct.

So Laura, what’s your department and role at Kybotech?

So I’m a customer care manager in the customer services department –  assisting customers and giving them the best service possible and resolving any concerns they may have.

How long have you worked at Kybotech?

For 12 years now.

customer service

And how big is your team/immediate department?

Including the sales team and trade team, we’re a team of 24 across both Garden Buildings Direct/ BillyOh and Bobbin Bikes.

“I’ve definitely seen the company change and grow”.

Laura

Wow – and can you explain “a day in your life” at the company?

Well, every day for me is different – new customers and challenges each day! But I carry out a number of tasks such as resolving customers concerns and questions, assisting the rest of the team and dealing with the day-to-day running of the sales and care team.

What gets you out of bed and to work in the morning?

Just the new challenges ahead really.

Working From Home

So how have you found working remotely during the past 1-2 years?

I did find it difficult at first not being in the office. Working at Kybotech for a number of years, suddenly not being able to help my colleagues face to face was a big challenge! But we’ve found new ways of working and I feel I can manage my time a lot better.

“The company is always improving and working on things that could work better, such as processes”.

Laura

What’s one proud moment you’ve had whilst working here?

I have a few proud moments, to be fair! I think the biggest thing for me is making my way up the ladder. When I started here 12 years ago, I was hired as a call centre agent. From there I was made a team leader, then a supervisor and now the customer care manager managing both the sales and care team!

Nice work Laura – so what’s on your list to achieve over the next year?

Working on processes and improvements in all areas. With customer care, there’s always room for improvement. From looking at what went well and not so well in the previous year – we can change to help things run more smoothly this year.

Constantly Growing

So how would you say you’ve seen the company change/grow since you’ve been here?

Working for Kybotech for 12 years I’ve definitely seen the company change and grow. When I first started at Kybotech we were based in a quiet village with way less office and yard space.

What useful skills have you learned whilst working here?

I’ve picked up many skills working with Kybotech. I’ve always worked within the customer service team but I’ve also helped out and learnt other roles during my time here.

I’ve picked up useful skills such as how to deal with customers when they are upset. But for me I think I have to say team management is a big one for me, I never thought I would run a team of more than 3 or 4 people but I’ve learnt over time how to do this.

smileys

Almost done – why did you decide to apply to Kybotech then?

I had a friend that worked here when I applied, and I always like to help people and thought customer service would be something that would suit me.

Makes sense! And what’s the best thing about working at Kybotech?

I’d have to say, my team and colleagues. We all work so well together and as a team – we’re always helping each other out. And on top of that, the company is always improving and working on things that could work better, such as processes.

Any advice for potential candidates?

If you’re not sure if you can learn it, trust me – your colleagues are always there to help you.

Thanks for your time – and if you want to follow in their footsteps, click to apply here.
